Strong Lamborghini Super Trofeo debut for Schjerpen in Germany

Aleksander Schjerpen joined forces with Leipert Motorsport last weekend to make his Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe debut with the German team in a last minute deal with the support of long-time sponsor Garage15.

No stranger to racing with Leipert, having enjoyed much success in the Creventic 24H Series aboard a Lamborghini in the past, Schjerpen was looking forward to the challenge that lay ahead.

Joining forces with Romanian driver Razvan Umbrarescu, the pair utilised Free Practice to settle into their new mount ahead of the hugely competitive event that would feature an entry of over 40 cars. Qualifying for the weekend’s two races got underway on Saturday morning and it was clear that the pair had found the sweet spot aboard their Lamborghini. Razvan was first on track in the two part session before Schjerpen took over to complete the final part of the session. A superb lap from the Norwegian secured the second fastest lap in class and P20 overall.

Saturday’s race one was set to be started by Umbrarescu and the Romanian suffered an unfortunate start to the race with a spin early on. However, from there he recovered well and worked his way back up the order before the pitstop window opened to hand the car over to Aleksander to complete the race. A solid drama free stint for the Garage15 driver would see them complete the race sixth in class.

Starting the second and final race of the weekend on Sunday afternoon from P2 in class, this time it was Schjerpen’s turn to take to the wheel first. A tricky start to the race amongst the large tightly packed field would see the Norwegian slip down the order. However once the field settled, Aleksander began his charge back up the order to hand the car over to Razvan in a good position. From there, he would complete a solid stint to secure P5 in class and the pair’s best lap was less than half a second off the best time in class.

Aleksander Schjerpen – #4 Leipert Motorsport Lamborghini Huracán:
“All in all we are happy with the results from this weekend. My teammate and I have been extremely close during the whole weekend,  our pace has increased throughout the weekend and we worked very well together. Leipert Motorsport did a great job as always preparing the car for each outing, and I have learned a lot to move on from here.”
