Schjerpen kicks off 2018 season in Dubai with Leipert Motorsport

Aleksander Schjerpen is set to get his 2018 season underway early in the new year with a return to the Dubai 24 Hours. Making his debut on his last visit to this twice around the clock event in 2016, Aleksander won the SP3 class with his then teammates Nathan Freke, Anna Walewska and Tom Oliphant.

Coming off the back of his first season away from the British GT Championship that saw the Norwegian race with Leipert Motorsport behind the wheel of their #10 Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo, he will continue in the same car that brought him much success in his final race of the 2017 season at the Circuit of the Americas in Texas.

Aleksander’s speed and consistency has been clear for all to see in 2017, featuring on the podium for the majority of his racing last year. However this has only left him hungry for a return to a full season programme where he can challenge for outright championship honours, something firmly in his sights for the new year.

With his full programme for the coming year still to be confirmed, the Dubai 24 Hours will hopefully provide the perfect start to his year on an event that already holds many fond memories.

Aleksander Schjerpen – #10 Leipert Motorsport Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo:
“I am very happy to return to Dubai again, it’s a very nice circuit, and a great place to start off the season. I am proud to be able to drive for Leipert Motorsport again, and I think we have the possibility to do great in the race. Hopefully we can get 2018 off to a good start, and I am really looking forward to the race.”

Marcel Leipert – Leipert Motorsport:
“We are very happy to have Aleksander joining us again for the 2018 season opener in the Huracán Super Trofeo in Dubai. The team loves working with Aleksander as he showed a strong and consistent performance throughout the whole year in 2017 and is a very nice person as well. The race will be again very exciting and it will be a tough fight for the win in the SPX class but I am very confident that we probably have one of the most competitive line-ups in the class. With the experience and speed of our drivers we should be able to have an excellent start to 2018.
