British GT at Rockingham

4th and 5th of May, it was ready for racing again in British GT. This time on Rockingham, an oval racing circuit which IndyCar has been driving on.

British GT is racing half the oval track and the rest on the infield. Morten and Aleks had never been at the track, so the first test was simply to get to know the track. After many laps during free practice, they qualified 6th for the two hour race. A good result, since they just learned the way around.

The race started good, and Aleks was doing the first stint. He drove himself up to 5th and was fighting with 4th place when he went to the pit for a driver change. Morten got into the car, and out on track. Almost at once he got on track, the engine started to stop, and they had to quit the race.

Aleks had this to say about the weekend:

“It was really fun driving on such a special track, with half the oval, and then the technical part, that reminds a little like a go-kart track.”

“Either Morten or I had ever been driving the track before, so the first practice was simply to get to know the track. I feel like we quickly found a good pace, and we had a good qualifying ending 6th. This was a good starting point for us in this race. The race went on really good as well, and I was happy with my stint. I found a good rhythm and was able to fight amongst the rest of the field. Unfortunately our engine would not allow us to finish the race.”

“All in all, I think we had a good weekend, learning a lot, and looking forward I think we will be even stronger for Silverstone. The team is working really good, and I am learning more each time im in the car. I am truly positive about the rest of the season!”

We will be back stronger!190414KG_0344
