Schjerpen steps up to 24H Series with Leipert Motorsport for 2017

British GT front-runner Aleksander Schjerpen has this week completed a deal with Leipert Motorsport that will see the young Norwegian star move onto the world stage to race their Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo at the Creventic 24 Hour Series.

Having spent the last three seasons racing a Century Motorsport prepared Ginetta G55 in British GT4, a campaign that included numerous visits to the podium, Schjerpen felt the time was right to move onto the Creventic platform. Having made the ultimate 24H Series debut at Dubai in 2016, winning Class SP3 with then teammates Nathan Freke, Tom Oliphant and Anna Walewska, this provided Aleksander with a taste of what he could achieve in the future.

Leipert Motorsport are no strangers to Lamborghini competition. Established in 2002, the German team have run various versions of the Lamborghini in most of the world’s main endurance racing championships. Their trophy cabinet holds some notable results that include almost 100 victories and 11 drivers’ championship titles. Having tested with the team over the winter, Schjerpen was quickly impressed with the outfit and their support staff, feeling confident this was the right next step for his career.

For 2017, Schjerpen will focus his attentions on selected rounds of the championship that include, Paul Ricard in France, Imola in Italy, Portimao in Portugal, and current Formula 1 venue, Circuit of the Americas in Texas, with his first round being at Paul Ricard on May 5-7.
